Nishikyushu University Admission Policy
In accordance with the educational principles and objectives of Nishikyushu University Junior College, admission screening is conducted in the manner most appropriate for each department. Candidates are evaluated in a multifaceted and comprehensive manner that assures fair evaluation of their ability and aptitude in receiving college education.
Department of Local Life Support Sciences
The Department of Local Life Support Sciences was established to develop professionals who can be flexible as they apply their knowledge and skills in supporting the lives of various people, thereby helping to invigorate local communities. The department expects applicants to have acquired academic ability equivalent to completing senior high school, with particular focus on Japanese reading, comprehension, and expression skills. This ability is the foundation for study in this course. Applicants are also expected to be able to interact with people, accept diverse opinions and both act in harmony with the group and independently as appropriate. The basic policy of the department is to accept students with the motivation, ability and competence needed to successfully complete the courses described below.
Course of Life Support: Food
- (1) Individuals who want to support improving people’s health by teaching them about the importance of food and food education
- (2) Individuals who spare no effort in learning and polishing their skills related to food
- (3) Individuals who love to eat and have a passion for cooking delicious dishes
- (4) Individuals who want to invigorate others and the community by improving their diets, and support others while working in diverse food-related occupations
Course of Life Support: Welfare
- (1) Individuals who want to help create pleasant lives for others by learning the knowledge and skills needed in nursing care and welfare systems
- (2) Individuals who are quite interested in world events and want to contribute to a better society
- (3) Individuals who love taking care of others and want to enthusiastically provide nursing care and welfare-related work
- (4) Individuals who want to help to invigorate others and their communities while developing themselves
Course of Life Support: Multi-culturalism
- (1) Individuals who want to support the members of their communities while flexibly adapting to various lifestyles and attitudes.
- (2) Individuals interested in the cultures of Japan and many other countries who want to pursue an occupation that makes the most of their foreign language and communication skills as they support members of their community.
- (3) Individuals interested in tourism and travel and who want to make full use of regional culture and features to support the happiness and welfare of others
- (4) Individuals interested in speaking and studying with young people from foreign countries, and who strongly desire to “spread their wings” by studying abroad
Department of Early Childhood Education
The Department of Early Childhood Education aims to foster individuals capable of providing childcare suggestions to staff and parents at nursery schools, kindergartens and welfare facilities with the professional knowledge and skills in early childhood education. Candidates must have the motivation, capacities and aptitudes described below:
- (1) Individuals who can actively interact with others (particularly children) and have empathy
- (2) Individuals who have actively participated in volunteer activities and work experience
- (3) Individual who can look back on their own past experiences and are able to talk about and reflect on them
